BARNET LIBRARIES

PROJECT

Barnet Library Services aims to make life-long learning accessible to all people living in the borough through a variety of flexible learning opportunities at different levels of study. For people who haven’t got to grips with computers, basic courses are on offer, aimed at people who benefit from working in small groups with friendly and helpful adult tutors. Many older learners find these courses particularly useful.

We aim to provide an exhilarating experience.  U3A stands for University of the Third Age.  An international organisation with over 250,000 UK members spread over 780 groups.

We encourage lifelong learning through stimulating groups.  Although called a University, we do not offer qualifications. 'University' is used in its original sense of ‘groups of people wishing to study or discuss a subject’.  3A refers to people in their 'Third Age'.              Click here for more information.

WHERE DO WE MEET?

We have centres in Stanmore, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Harrow and members homes.

WHAT DO WE DO??

We meet regularly to discuss and follow topics ranging from Art to Yiddish.  Periodic outings and visiting lecturers provide a further opportunity to socialise and meet other members
